Intense Pulsed Light Skin Rejuvenation in Warwickshire
Reveal clearer, brighter skin with one of the most powerful IPL treatments for pigmentation, redness and sun damage
Advanced light-based treatment to target sun damage, redness and uneven pigmentation for radiant, youthful skin.
At Dr Hazel Skin Solutions in Long Itchington, near Leamington Spa, we offer Lumecca IPL – one of the most advanced light-based technologies for treating pigmentation, redness and sun damage.
Using powerful bursts of intense pulsed light, Lumecca safely targets unwanted pigment and vascular lesions to restore a clearer, brighter and more even complexion.
Whether you’re concerned about age spots, sun damage, rosacea or visible veins, Lumecca delivers noticeable results with minimal downtime.
What is Lumecca IPL?
Lumecca is a next-generation Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment that delivers up to three times more energy in the 500–600nm range compared with standard IPL systems.
This allows for faster, more effective results in just 1–3 sessions, making it one of the most efficient treatments for pigmentation and redness.
Lumecca can safely treat most areas of the face and body – including the face, neck, décolletage, hands, arms and legs – and is suitable for a range of skin tones thanks to its advanced handpieces that adapt to your skin type.
How Lumecca Works
During treatment, bright pulses of light penetrate the skin and are absorbed by areas of excess pigment or visible blood vessels.
This light energy is converted into gentle heat, breaking down unwanted pigment and closing small capillaries while leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed.
Over the following days, the treated areas darken slightly before naturally fading, revealing clearer, more radiant skin.
What Lumecca Treats
Sun damage and uneven pigmentation
Age spots and freckles
Thread veins and small vascular lesions ((thread veins, spider veins, port wine stains, telangiectasiae)

Treatment Details
First, we will conduct a comprehensive consultation before treatment.
Next, we will take your photographs, complete your medical history, and obtain your consent for treatment.
After cleansing, applying a topical gel and eye protection, short pulses of light are delivered through the Lumecca handpiece.
You’ll feel a quick “snap” sensation, often compared to an elastic band flick, but treatment is generally well-tolerated.
Sessions usually take 20–45 minutes, depending on the area treated.
Mild redness may occur afterwards and usually settles within a few hours. You can return to normal activities immediately, though SPF protection is essential.
Results & Recovery
Many patients notice an improvement in skin clarity after just one session, with further gains over the next few weeks as pigmentation breaks down and new collagen forms.
For best results, a course of 2–3 treatments spaced around 4 weeks apart is typically recommended.
Results can last for 12 months or more with good sun protection and maintenance treatments once or twice a year.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many Lumecca IPL treatments will I need?
Most patients see a noticeable improvement after just one treatment, however for optimal and longer-lasting results a course of 3-6 sessions, spaced around 4 weeks apart, is usually recommended. The number of treatments depends on what is being treated.
For pigmentation concerns such as sun damage, age spots and freckles, most patients require 1–3 sessions.
For vascular concerns including redness, rosacea and thread veins, a course of 3–6 treatments is often recommended.
Your personalised treatment plan will be discussed in detail during your consultation.
Is Lumecca IPL painful?
Lumecca is generally very well tolerated. You may feel a brief “snap” sensation, similar to an elastic band flick, along with some warmth during treatment. Sessions are quick, and most patients find the discomfort minimal with no need for numbing cream.
What downtime should I expect after Lumecca IPL?
Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild redness or warmth for a few hours after treatment. Pigmented areas often darken slightly before flaking away naturally over 7–10 days. Very occasionally you may get some slight swelling or a small bruise. Most people return to normal activities immediately.
Is Lumecca IPL safe for my skin type?
Lumecca can be suitable for a wide range of skin types and tones, however a patch test is required prior to treatment.
This allows us to assess how your skin responds to light energy and ensures the treatment is safe and appropriately tailored for you.
How long do results last?
Results can last 12 months or longer, particularly with good sun protection and a consistent skincare routine. Many patients choose a maintenance treatment once or twice a year to keep their skin clear, bright and even-toned.
