Microneedling in Warwickshire
Microneedling – Precision Collagen Induction Therapy
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a versatile skin rejuvenation treatment used to improve texture, tone and structural integrity of the skin.
At Dr Hazel Skin Solutions, microneedling is performed using the Derma FNS (Fractional Needling System) Pen, a medical-grade device that allows precise, controlled treatment with reduced surface trauma.
Why the Derma FNS Pen Matters
Unlike many basic or non-medical microneedling devices, the Derma FNS system uses an active needle retraction mechanism rather than relying solely on spring-loaded penetration. This allows the needles to enter and exit the skin cleanly and:
Reduces surface trauma
Allows smoother gliding over the skin
Minimises discomfort and downtime
Enables deeper, more controlled treatment where appropriate
Treatment depth and intensity can be adjusted depending on the skin concern being treated.
How Microneedling Works
Controlled micro-injuries stimulate the skin’s natural wound-healing response, leading to:
Increased collagen and elastin production
Improved cell turnover
Enhanced blood flow and nutrient delivery
Over time, this results in stronger, smoother and more resilient skin.
What Microneedling Can Treat
Fine lines and wrinkles
Acne scarring
Chickenpox scars
Stretch marks (striae)
Enlarged pores
Pigmentation and uneven tone
Dull or tired-looking skin
Microneedling can be enhanced with Purasome Exosomes, V tech serum (containing polynucleotides, exosomes, plant stem cells & biomimetic peptides), or combined with EnerPeel® MA for deeper resurfacing.
Is Microneedling Right for Me?

Results & Recovery
Skin often appears brighter within 1–2 weeks, with continued improvement over 8–12 weeks as collagen remodels.
Redness typically settles within 24–48 hours, though sensitive skin may take slightly longer.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many microneedling treatments will I need?
For most skin concerns, microneedling is performed as a course of 3–6 treatments, spaced several weeks apart. Each session builds on the previous one, stimulating collagen production and improving skin quality progressively.
Once the initial course is complete, many patients choose a single maintenance treatment every six months to support ongoing collagen stimulation and maintain results.
Is microneedling painful?
Most patients tolerate microneedling very well without the need for topical anaesthetic, particularly when using a medical-grade device such as the Derma FNS system.
If you are particularly sensitive or anxious, a topical anaesthetic can be used to maximise comfort. This will be discussed during your consultation so the treatment can be tailored to you.
What downtime should I expect?
Immediately after treatment, the skin typically appears pink or flushed, similar to mild sunburn. This usually settles within24–48 hours, although sensitive skin may take slightly longer.
Most patients return to normal daily activities the same day or the following day.
When will I see results?
Many patients notice an initial improvement in skin brightness and texture within 1–2 weeks.
The most significant results develop gradually as new collagen forms, with optimal improvement visible at around 10–12 weeks following treatment. Results continue to improve with each session in a course.
Can microneedling be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Microneedling works extremely well as part of a carefully planned, staged treatment programme and is often combined with other skin treatments to enhance results.
In most cases, treatments are timed appropriately rather than performed simultaneously in the same area, allowing the skin to recover safely and optimally.
One exception is mandelic acid (EnerPeel® MA), which can be performed in the same session as microneedling when clinically appropriate. This combination allows both surface exfoliation and deeper collagen stimulation, helping to improve skin texture, tone and clarity more effectively than either treatment alone.
Your suitability for combination treatment will always be assessed during consultation.
